Renovating a senior bathroom can be a difficult task. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about making sure your loved one can get in and out safely and comfortably. Here are six important things to consider when renovating a senior’s bathroom:
- Create easy access into the bathroom and shower by widening the bathroom door and shower entry.
- Have extra support in the bathroom by installing rails in the shower area, around the toilet, and where needed.
- Installing non-slip floor tiles will prevent the elderly from slipping and injuries.
- Adding a shower seat to help the elderly with mobility issues while taking a shower.
- Avoiding sharp edges by using rounded corners, where possible, or by adding trims around sharp corners to soften them up so they’re not as hazardous in case someone bumps into them while walking around their bathroom or shower area.
